IK Standard
The IK Standard is the international numerical classification standard for indicating the level of protection of electrical equipment enclosures against mechanical external impacts. It provides a device capable of determining the capacity of an enclosure to protect its contents against external effects. This standard is also known in the security camera industry as Vandal Proof (vandal-resistant) or Vandal Resistance (vandal-resistant), and it can only withstand impacts for some models of security camera domes and a small number of security camera bullet bodies, which is directly related to the type of housing.
Structure of the IK Standard Code
The standard code consists of two different parts: the first part is the letters IK, and the second part is a two-digit number that indicates the resistance level of the electrical device. To determine the resistance level, the following table is used.
Standard Classification
According to the following table, the product's resistance to impact will be specified:
What is a shockproof or standard IK surveillance camera?
Shockproof cameras are essentially useful in outdoor environments of buildings and also in sensitive and ultra-security locations, crime-prone areas, prisons, and also places with a likelihood of violence like stadiums.
It is worth noting that shockproof cameras do not resist bullet shots and get damaged. Therefore, if bulletproof capability is very important to you, you must definitely use bulletproof covering (Bullet Proof) to protect your cameras.
